SABI SABI BUSH LODGE & THE D' OREALE GRAND HOTEL

DAY 1-3

This Grandeur journey will see you board a charter flight flying directly into the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. Stepping out into the arrivals hall at OR Tambo can be a daunting experience – especially for international travellers who are not familiar with South Africa. Because the comfort and enjoyment of our passengers is our top priority, Federal Airlines provides a complimentary meet and greet service to every passenger connecting via OR Tambo. You will feel both safe and welcome with your Federal Airlines representative waiting for you as you step through the doors ready to transfer you to our private facility adjacent to OR Tambo. A quick 10-minute drive will see you arriving at our doors where the oasis of our lounge awaits you for a much-needed wash-up, a cup of coffee, food and a moment of quiet relaxation before your adventure begins.

Deep in the bushveld overlooking a waterhole and an open plain, lies a lodge that pulses to the rhythm of Africa’s heartbeat. This is Bush Lodge, steeped in tradition, vibrant and warm, the Sabi Sabi of “Today”. With a history spanning over 35 years, the lodge has earned a reputation of a “luxury home in the bush”, service excellence and effortless personal attention. The conventional safari style showcases a vibrant and eclectic mix of furnishings and décor garnered from all corners of the African continent.

To maintain privacy and intimacy, the lodge has 25 suites featuring en-suite bathrooms and al-fresco, glass-fronted showers, with wonderful views of the bushveld. Bush Lodge has been sensitively designed to allow ample space to relax, unwind and savour the tranquillity of the bush. The two swimming pools and large covered viewing decks overhanging the Msuthlu riverbed are an invitation to cool off in the filtered water or sit in comfort while spotting game at the well-utilised pan. An exquisitely furnished lounge, atrium and intimate bar area are perfect meeting places for friends old and new. As an extra indulgence at  Bush Lodge offers the ultimate African Spa experience.

Fly back to Johannesburg on the last day where you will be collected and transferred to the D'Oreale Grand Hotel at Emperors Palace.

JOURNEY TO VICTORIA FALLS

DAY 4-7

You are collected this morning and transferred to the Rovos Rail station in Pretoria. This three-night adventure begins with the train’s departure from Rovos Rail Station in Pretoria. It then winds its way north through Warmbaths, so named for its mineral waters, and Nylstroom, christened by the Voortrekkers as the source of the Nile River as the town’s river happened to be north flowing. The train then passes the edge of the escarpment and crosses the Tropic of Capricorn en route to the border with Zimbabwe. After formalities at Beitbridge the next morning, the train travels towards Bulawayo, the second city of Zimbabwe, capital of Matabeleland and industrial capital of the country. The following day sees the train travelling along one of the world’s longest stretches of straight railway line – 114 kilometres – before traversing Hwange National Park, a rich and diverse wildlife sanctuary where animals can be spotted from the train and a game drive excursion is enjoyed. After a service stop at Thompsons Junction, the sojourn ends at the incomparable Victoria Falls on the mighty Zambezi River.

On arrival in Victoria Falls, you will be collected and transferred to the Stanley & Livingstone Hotel in Victoria Falls.

Stanley & Livingstone is Victoria Fall’s first boutique hotel and holds prime location just 10 minutes from the area’s namesake falls – a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. This makes the hotel an ideal base from which to explore, as well a quiet retreat in one of the continent’s most visited destinations. The intimate hotel, with just 16 Suites, is set in landscaped gardens bordering a nature reserve and is intended to be a pause on a spectacular Southern African itinerary. Its fresh design takes an easy-going approach to colonial style, and its spaces – both elegant and approachable – encourage you to settle in and feel at home. Well, thought-out facilities, attentive service, and good food enhance the experience by ensuring you are very well taken care of – a hallmark of Stanley & Livingstone Boutique Hotel. And it is at your discretion to decide how much or how little to do, while breakfasting out on the hotel lawns or enjoying in-room spa treatments.

EXPLORE THE VICTORIA FALLS

DAY 8

The Victoria Falls constitutes one of the most spectacular natural wonders of the world. The Local people call it "Mosi-oa-Tunya", the smoke that thunders and is a waterfall in southern Africa on the Zambezi River at the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe.

There is a magic about them manifested in the towering column of spray when the river is high, the thunder of the falling water, the terrifying abyss and tranquil lagoons upstream in which hippo and deadly crocodiles lurk.

The Victoria falls is 1 708 meters wide, making it the largest curtain of water in the world. It drops between 90m and 107m into the Zambezi Gorge and an average of 550,000 cubic meters of water plummet over the edge every minute. Remarkably preserved in its natural state, Victoria falls inspires visitors as much today as it did David Livingstone in the 1860s. The falls and the surrounding area have been declared National Parks and a World Heritage Site, thus preserving the area from excessive commercialization.

Victoria Falls is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Statistically speaking, it is the largest waterfall in the world. This recognition comes from combining the height and width together to create the largest single sheet of flowing water. Livingstone named the falls after the reigning queen at the time.

DEPARTURE DAY
